Single Point of Access Practitioner – CAMHS

The Single Point of Access (SPA) is a unique part of the CAMHS service. It is the first point of contact for both parents and professionals who are looking for guidance and support when a young person is facing difficult mental health challenges.

You will work within a small team based in Castleford, being responsible for supporting families and professionals through providing specialist consultation on the phone. You will also be involved in the assessment of referrals into the service, and deciding the appropriate treatment approach for each referral. You may also take part in the running of group work with young people to support the wider Primary Intervention Team, or contribute to the delivery of the short-term individualised treatment programmes. Your work will be the front line of CAMHS and therefore excellent communication, engagement and de-escalation skills are essential. A commitment to improving service delivery and developing new ways of supporting early intervention is essential. As a member of the team you will also contribute to the wider aims of the service through participation in service development/research.

Working hours: Monday – Friday 9am – 5pm (flexible working available – can offer 8am start or 6pm finish).

Hours available: Both part-time and full time hours considered.

Location: Fixed office based role – no additional travel expected, unless you are asked to support with the delivery of group work or interventions – which can be discussed.
