Extra Care Scheme Supervisor (Manchester) – £25,000
Sugarman Health and Wellbeing are looking for an Extra Care Scheme Supervisor to join our fantastic Homecare team based at Oaklands Extra Care, Manchester.
Salary: £25,000 per annum
Location: Oaklands Extra Care, Manchester (This is an on-site role and attendance at the scheme is required.)
We are seeking an organised, proactive, and compassionate individual to support the Registered Manager in the delivery of a high quality Extra Care service. The successful candidate will be responsible for the deployment, management, monitoring, and supervision of Care Workers within the Extra Care Scheme, ensuring all mandatory compliance requirements are maintained and contractual KPIs are achieved.
This role requires a strong focus on customer satisfaction, quality assurance, staff development, and service excellence. You will play a key role in promoting Sugarman Health and Wellbeing vision and values while ensuring Service Users receive a seamless, person centred service.
Key Responsibilities
Care Worker Management
Ensuring all Care Workers are fully briefed before commencing care packages.
Creating and maintaining consistent and stable rotas, ensuring they are communicated in a timely manner.
Managing Care Worker availability accurately within the Coldharbour system.
Carrying out monitoring visits, spot checks, and direct observations of Care Workers.
Supporting and encouraging the personal and professional development of Care Workers.
Completing Care Certificate assessments and liaising with the Registered Manager for sign off.
Identifying experienced Care Workers who require needs led training and development.
Managing Care Worker attendance, timekeeping, and absences.
Ensuring a minimum of 90% of rotas are templated.
Completing care calls within the Extra Care Scheme when required.
Supervisions & Appraisals
Completing regular Care Worker observations and supervisions.
Ensuring all Care Workers, receive supervisions and appraisals at least every three months.
Identifying training and development needs and liaising with the Training Team.
Maintaining accurate staff records, including supervisions, return-to-work interviews, annual appraisals, and other relevant documentation.
Supporting the identification of Care Workers suitable for NVQ/QCF development opportunities.
Auditing Care Worker files to ensure compliance.
Service User Support
Keeping Service Users informed of all temporary and permanent Care Worker changes.
Conducting monitoring visits, spot checks, and direct observations with Service Users.
Completing regular reviews records are updated on the Care Management System.
Undertaking risk assessments and completing Care Support documentation for new and existing citizens in the Scheme.
Maintaining accurate records and updating the care management system with all relevant information.
Auditing Service User daily records and Medication Administration Records (MAR charts) and ensuring any required actions are completed.
Auditing Service User files to ensure compliance and quality standards are maintained.
Compliance & Quality Assurance
Ensuring compliance with all contractual requirements, monitoring specifications, and company policies.
Running weekly reports to monitor Service User and Care Worker compliance.
Participating in monthly allocation panel meetings with Manchester City Council and Southway Housing.
Attending monthly and quarterly review meetings as required.
Managing incidents and events in line with company reporting procedures.
Assisting with payroll and invoice requests and resolving queries in a timely manner.
Ensuring all staff working within the Extra Care Scheme are fully trained and compliant with Sugarman Health and Wellbeing and Southway Housing policies and procedures.
Out of Hours Support
Providing evening, weekend, and bank holiday support as and when required.
Supporting the delivery of a seven day service to ensure continuous coverage across the scheme.
Experience & Qualifications
Previous experience in a care, domiciliary care, or Extra Care setting.
Experience supervising, coaching, or supporting care staff.
Good understanding of care compliance, safeguarding, and quality standards.
Strong organisational, communication, and problem solving skills.
Confident using IT systems and care management software.
NVQ/QCF Level 2 or 3 in Health & Social Care desirable.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
