Training and Competencies

Our training program for all our carers is developed for each Service User depending on their needs and is a blended approach of online, virtual and face to face practical sessions with trainers and Nurse Care Manager’s. All carers will complete mandatory training in line with the Care Certificate, Skills for Care and CQC guidance. Every carer attends our two-day clinical training program – this is delivered virtually by our nursing team to small groups and includes knowledge and theory behind face-to-face competency training.

The carers will then attend face-to-face competency training which once successfully completed leads to them being signed off as competent by our Nurse Care Manager in the subject/s assessed.

Each clinical delegated task has its own competency assessment which has a comprehensive list of tasks and areas of potential concern, which the carer needs to be tested against. A competency covers the clinical needs, the equipment needed to perform that task and what to do in an emergency.
