Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant – 2:1 Provision

Location: BH15, Poole

Pay: £20 per hour (PAYE)

Hours: Part-time, Mon-Fri (3 hours daily, 15 hours a week) Ability to request more work, should full-time vacancy be preferred

Timings: 12-3pm Monday to Friday

Contract: Flexible daytime hours

About the Role:

We are recruiting a compassionate and proactive SEN Teaching Assistant to work as part of a 2:1 high‑risk tutoring and mentoring provision supporting a Year 1 learner with significant SEMH, sensory and behavioural regulation needs.

The young person becomes easily dysregulated, displays impulsivity, high activity levels, and sensory‑seeking behaviours, requiring constant supervision and a calm, predictable environment. You will play a key role in helping them engage in structured activities, manage emotional intensity, and build positive learning experiences.

Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the Lead Teacher to deliver structured, engaging sessions
  • Support emotional regulation using calm, consistent, relational approaches
  • Implement movement‑based and sensory strategies throughout sessions
  • Help maintain safety during periods of dysregulation or risk‑taking behaviour
  • Encourage participation and reinforce positive interactions
  • Complete risk assessments and provide feedback to the wider team

Who We’re Looking For:

  • Experience with SEN, SEMH, or behaviour support (desirable but not essential)
  • Calm, patient and confident in high‑risk or fast‑paced environments
  • Strong teamwork, communication and consistency
  • Willingness to learn and follow structured routines
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service & right to work in the UK
  • 2 Years of experience working with Children and Young People
