Support Worker Opportunities – Learning Disability Service (Filey, North Yorkshire)
Location: Filey, North Yorkshire, YO14
Pay Rate: £15 per hour
Shift Pattern
To maintain the individual’s established routine, the service operates the following hours:
Day Shifts
7:00am – 10:30pm (This may be delivered as a split shift depending on rota requirements.)
Fixed Day Patterns
Monday, Wednesday, Friday: 8:30am – 8:30pm
Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, Sunday: 9:00am – 9:00pm
Waking Nights
9:00pm – 9:00am

About the Individual You Will Be Supporting
The person has a learning disability and requires a highly structured, predictable environment with clear routines. Their mum is very particular about how routines are followed and how the home is set out, so staff must demonstrate consistency, professionalism and attention to detail.
Key Support Needs
Requires full assistance with personal care, including showering and hygiene.
Needs support with feeding due to wearing splints.
Blind in one eye due to historic self‑harm.
Wears pads but will sit on the toilet with prompting and privacy.
Has dry skin, prefers hair washed and brushed, and uses cotton wool in ears during hair washing.
Fully mobile but uses a wheelchair for long distances.
Sleep routine varies depending on staff consistency; routine must be followed precisely. “Staff have to ensure the routine is followed.”
Enjoys tribute bands, rock and roll, countryside views, quiet cafés, walks and being outdoors.
Requires a clutter‑free environment; removes bags, ornaments and items she dislikes.
Communicates through actions and gestures; understands verbal communication but does not speak.
Displays behaviours such as self‑harm, compulsive removal of items and sensory‑driven actions.
Has arm splints and a DoLS application in place.
Prefers her own space and does not like touch.
Candidate Requirements
We are seeking Support Workers who can demonstrate:
Strong consistency and adherence to established routines
Calm, structured communication and non‑verbal prompting
High attention to environmental setup and clutter‑free expectations
Confidence supporting personal care, feeding and mobility
Ability to recognise behavioural cues and respond professionally
Respect for personal space and sensory needs
Accurate record‑keeping and adherence to care plans
Reliability within a rota that includes long day shifts and waking nights
